NDUGA - One of the military units under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, the Task Forces of the Para Raider Infantry Battalion 503/Mayangkara Kostrad, is currently conducting mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, particularly in Nduga Regency, Papua Pegunungan Province. On Sunday, 6 October 2024.
The 503 Task Forces conducted a security patrol in the Kenyam District and distributed packages of basic necessities to the Kenyam residents. This activity was a part of the 79th anniversary of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI).
Underlining the personal commitment of the Soldiers, the Commander of the 503 Task Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Gurbasa Samosir, stressed the importance of the Task Forces’ attention to the basic necessities of the community around the Post. This was not just a message, but an immediate call to action. Therefore, on Sunday after the Sunday service, Lt. Col. Gurbasa personally led his Soldiers to take advantage of the area's security patrol by distributing packages of basic necessities to the Kenyam residents.
While maintaining their focus on security, the Soldiers took the opportunity to communicate with the residents. The response from the Kenyam residents was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing their happiness for the packages. One thousand packages of basic necessities were distributed at the Kenyam City overtaking roundabout. After receiving the Soldiers ' free packages, the residents’ joy was immediately visible from their broad smiles and laughter. One Papuan Mother, Mrs. Marta Menjeh, even said, " Praise God, thank you, Commander 503, for the packages. God bless TNI", a testament to the strong bond between the community and the Task Forces. This heartwarming response from the community underscores the impact of the Task Forces' efforts and the gratitude of the Kenyam residents.
After receiving the activity report, the HABEMA Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, acknowledged the 503 Task Forces’ initiative to distribute free packages of basic necessities to Kenyam residents. His words: "The 503 Task Forces' initiative is a testament to TNI's commitment to packages of basic necessities for the community to support the acceleration of development in the Papua region." This acknowledgment from the highest authority in HABEMA underscores the importance of such initiatives. It instills a sense of hope and optimism about their potential to impact the region's development positively. It makes the Task Forces and the community feel recognized and appreciated for their efforts.
